so, i am trying to find a topic for my MA thesis...
well, i already had an idea: an comparison of adult education in austria and finland, than only adult education in finland and only short relations to austria....
but don't feel so comfortable with these topics... i am really a fan of finland, i guess you could tell from looking at my bolgs titel, but the question is, do i want to do research on finland and maybe loose this fascinated feeling about the country and the magic i can see and feel.
and only now i discovered a possible new topic , it just happens, that topics just pop up, out of nothing... in this case i was searching for a presentation topic for the course on new media... my teacher tried to help me with finding a topic and made some suggestions. we've been talking about some art stuff and podcasting. podcasting was one of my interests BUT he opened this whole topic of arts and culture connected to education. i have been thinking about this before, considering adult education as an more open concept of education and also emplying the term 'entgrenzung' dissolution of boundaries .... also theoretically also a very interesting field thinking of 'constructivism', informal learning, aesthetics also in education and the big topic of new media in arts (music, design, etc...)

inter-state conflicts: why does gender matter (engl)
this is a really interesting lecture!!! taught bei cordula reimann... she was in several UN or other peace building teams all over the world and was also part of negociation processes to some extand.
she is doing a lot of theoretical work on the topic gender in the field of conflicts, beginning with post-conflict phase to peace building.

its friday and the first block of this seminar is coming up... i am tensed and curious to see what's going to happen today and tomorrow. its going to be a rough weekend 6-8 hours seminar a day is really tough... we will learn a lot, though at least i hope so....

i guess this is going to be one of my favorite seminars this term, but only contentwise unfortunately. as we are really many people it is unbearable to stay in a room longer than 60 minutes, by then the air is rich of awkward smells, but without oxygen... it feels like a fish in a harbour - i guess.
and we have some "special" guests in the seminar. we have some teachers - again. and teachers are the worst students ... and a very special self-educated older guy, he used to train ambulance men and was also a driving instructor. if you've got your licence already, you know these are the worst teachers of all, because they really think their job is the most important one, but none got a proper education, like real teachers do - so they never had to face an higher authority or critique, hence they always make a great show of learning...
this enormous belive in his wisdom makes him just annoying.
knowing things better (excluding the scholar and his 5 "girls") is an disgusting way for these 60+ guys telling the "little" girls how stupid they are - and probably will ever be.
this is only one way to mark his territory - the girls and the teacher. the other way is extrem bodily proximity - like getting so close to the teacher, that his rather big stomach is bumping him, or strutting in the classroom like an alpha male, while everyone else are at their seats and the teacher is already talking.
so he marked his territory clearly... like an animal would do! and i don't know, but i could go crazy with this behaviour. i can feel this discomfort in my body, this disgusting feeling is crawling through my body and with every sentence he's saying its getting worse... i just hope i'm not going to crack up tomorrow out of nothing - i should pick a seat far away from this guy!!!!
on the other hand our teacher is super nice!!! i felt connected to him from the first moment, he radiates a lot of kindness, happyness and curiosity almost like a little boy, thats very sympathatic and makes him lovely and cute. but he is not naive, knows a lot and is telling nice stories - i am actually wondering if i could find a guy like this in my age ;)
he remembers me having a macbook, using different new media stuff and he was quite fond of that. so he tries to tie me in... looking at my while speaking, but i am not already brave enough to join in... its terrible i like him, and i would like to practice talking infront of the group, maybe i am stong enough tomorrow!!!

schönheit - beauty myth
this is one of the very desperate seminars in the field of gender/women's studies!
unfortunately we are really many people 25 in this course and this is just too much, no sence of discussing a topic, also because we have some very dominant girls in the group who are just loud and are hindering any productive discussions. sometime its more like a support group for women in todays society, speaking about clothing sizes, how much time they send on beauty issues, anorexia etc. i totally understand need for these girls to talk about these topics, but this is an university course i miss the serious, clear and unemotional discussion.
this course is far away from acadamic standards, but the teachers want's us to write an min. 10 pages paper, with non-acadamic material - so where is the sense?!?!
